We are here to support you.
Life is full of challenges.
We might face overwhelming emotions, increasing stress at work, or difficulties at home. Sometimes we suffer losses and major life events, or we endure family and romantic relationship conflicts. And sometimes, we just feel lost, stuck, and unsure of what direction to take in life.
Whether you are struggling with anxiety or depression, dealing with trauma, going through a rough patch in your relationship, school, and career endeavors, or simply looking to take a deeper dive into self-discovery, we are here to help.
No matter what you are going through, you do not have to suffer alone.
At New Beginnings Psych, we provide therapy for adults to help individuals, just like you, navigate life’s challenges and rediscover themselves for a fulfilling future.
What is therapy for adults?
Therapy for adults or psychotherapy is an effective psychological treatment for emotional and behavioral issues, but it is also a great way to gain personal insight into yourself and your values. Many refer to therapy as “counseling” or “talk therapy,” as it consists of meeting one-on-one with a licensed therapist or counselor to talk about your concerns.
During therapy, your counselor will rely on their training and research-based techniques to work with you as a team and support your healing. The sessions are private, confidential, and customized to your needs.
How do I know if I need therapy?
We believe therapy can help anyone grow, explore and rediscover their true selves for a “new beginning.”
Contrary to common misconceptions, seeking therapy does not mean you are weak or odd. Embracing vulnerability and opening up to your therapist can actually help you manage your issues, find relief, and make a difference in your life.
Some of the common reasons many adults seek therapy include:
- Deep sadness or hopelessness
- Excessive worry, stress, or anxiety
- Loneliness or isolation
- Anger or irritability
- Relationship issues (romantic, family, friendships)
- Major life events (loss of loved one or pet, divorce, big move)
- Harmful behavior or thoughts
- Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
Most people go to therapy when these or other symptoms become so severe that school, work, and daily activities are too difficult to carry on.
Do not wait to get the help you need. You have the power to take action and find peace. And we are here to guide you through that process.
How can therapy for adults help me?
Some people think therapy is like asking a friend for advice, but it is really different! Licensed therapists are mental health professionals with advanced clinical training and are prepared with tools and knowledge to support you.
Therapy for adults can help you in three key ways:
#1 – Explore thoughts and feelings
Therapy offers the opportunity to dive deep into your overwhelming thoughts and emotions and discover what is hiding underneath. Given the private and confidential setting, therapy allows you to share what you are going through and to feel heard and understood without judgment.
#2 – Navigate issues
Your therapist will get to know you, your concerns and goals, and provide you with resources and strategies to deal with problems. As you make progress in therapy, you will be able to apply these mechanisms and make necessary adjustments to reach sustainable and self-reliant wellness.
#3 – Encourage self-awareness
Opening up and handling life’s challenges will let you gain further insight into yourself, your values, and your needs. This increased sense of awareness can help you be more mindful and make positive choices moving forward.
